3 Powerful Verses to Rely on When Life Goes Absolutely Berserk

Life can sometimes become so overly chaotic and busy that many of us slip deep into the grooves (and comforts) of our routines — so deep that we forget the profound and abounding mysteries surrounding us.

We somehow take it all for granted, pushing to the wayside the deeper, greater — more eternal — things that truly matter; we focus, instead, on the temporal.

As humans, we crave routine and distraction; we lament change, and we seek comfort. It’s easier to focus on the here and now than on the then and when, especially when we’re experiencing good things.

Unfortunately, life isn’t always comfortable.

Sometimes it is downright painful, agonizing, confounding and maddening — filled we events and happenings we simply can’t understand or process.

We get overwhelmed, disheartened and even disgusted. And we are then snapped out of our comfy routines and distractions.

And these ill-fated wake-up calls come in many forms.

When chaos, illness and pain set in, our first reflex might be to question God. We might ask Him many “whys” and “why nots,” which is understandable considering our humanity.

But, in the midst of our pain and uncertainty — in the middle of the troubling or confusing mystery — we must push past our emotions to recognize that we have only one constant: Christ.

We might not understand why we aren’t getting relief, why a healing isn’t coming for a loved one or why God has allowed an unfortunate event to unfold.

But what we can lean into is God’s promise: To always be with us.
