Hollywood Actors’ Kid Shocks Everyone With Powerful Conversion
“I really don’t know how else to put it except the fact that Jesus came in my room,” Lola Sheen said.
As the waves of cultural confusion come crashing down, young people increasingly recognize they’ve been swept away by lies and false narratives.
It’s a realization that has sparked scenes of sweeping revival, with reports of thousands of college students persistently flocking to Christian events on various campuses to openly embrace faith and turn their lives around.
And while each of these stories about youths’ quest for eternal truth has been captivating, one such example recently went viral — and with good reason.
Lola Sheen, daughter of actors Charlie Sheen and Denise Richards, stunned the nation last month when she announced she became a Christian.
“Jesus saved me.” Ms. Sheen, 19, wrote these powerful words in an Instagram post last month, sharing a transformational testimony of hitting “rock bottom” and suffering from immense hopelessness before finding solace in faith.
“I can’t really explain it other than it was supernatural,” she wrote. “But Jesus met me exactly where I was, and He forever became my sun.”
Ms. Sheen’s post, which was accompanied by photos of her being baptized, shed light on a new life filled with happiness, peace and eternal joy. But, most importantly, it highlighted her refocused attention on God’s standards and love.
The internet lit up over the revelation that the daughter of two megastars had so boldly and openly proclaimed the Gospel.
Adding to the intrigue, of course, is the reality that her mother, Ms. Richards, is a well-known TV star and actress. And anyone paying attention to the media circa 2011 knows that her TV and movie star dad, Mr. Sheen, has a long history of issues serving as the basis for tabloid fodder — elements that have added further intrigue to Ms. Sheen’s conversion to the Christian faith.
During a recent conversation with CBN News, she was candid about the unique elements of her pre-faith struggles, telling me about the difficult plights she faced.
While young people generally face the pressure of a chaotic world, Ms. Sheen grew up in the bowels of Hollywood, where these dynamics are even more pronounced.
“I grew up with parents who were in the industry, and I always felt super alone,” she told me. “I just always felt like I could never find security and never find just something that felt like a home.”
Like so many others, Ms. Sheen found herself as a teen deeply struggling with her mental health. And she’s not alone, as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found last year that 40% of high school students felt sad or hopeless in 2023, with 53% of teen girls expressing this sentiment.
Ms. Sheen attempted therapy and other interventions but failed to find relief. She said it wasn’t until she embraced Jesus that everything changed.
“Jesus really did find me, and that’s what changed me,” she said. “He chose me first, and it was the first time someone chose me when I wasn’t the best version of myself.”
The honesty in this statement is deeply refreshing. In a culture that tells us we can define who we are, what is true and what’s of moral value, Ms. Sheen recognized quite the opposite – that it’s God’s path for her that matters most and that He will love and care for her no matter what.
It was her “rock bottom” moment one night while laying in bed being plagued by negative thoughts that shifted her perspective. Ms. Sheen recalled feeling she no longer wanted to be around and that she lacked purpose.
Then, something remarkable happened.
“I really don’t know how else to put it except the fact that Jesus came in my room,” Ms. Sheen said. “I had never experienced anything like it. His presence came to me. … And I felt this overwhelming sense of peace in my room.”
And that peace sent her on a surprising journey of hope — one she has been sharing with a watching world filled with people wondering how and why a young woman who came from Hollywood is so bent on pushing the world to the side to follow the Lord.
Ms. Sheen smiled as she told me her life is “forever changed,” finding true hope outside of temporal things. And she’s not alone.
There’s so much to be negative about in the news and world around us, yet we’re watching glimmers of miracles and spiritual transformation unfold weekly in many corner of America — even in Hollywood.
Just last week, thousands of students came together at the University of Kentucky’s Rupp Arena, where droves of youths were baptized as Christians.
“This is just all a miracle,” event speaker Jennie Allen told me. “So many kids come forward, confess sin, follow Jesus, and we’re baptizing usually into the morning. And it’s unlike anything I’ve ever seen. It’s unlike anything I’ve even been bold enough to pray for … until recently.”
A miracle, indeed. I’m grateful for people such as Ms. Sheen who are openly sharing their journeys and, in turn, helping others who are lost find the truth that will heal and complete them. And I’m excited to see college kids waking up as well.
The darkness of the lies is no match for the light of truth. Let’s pray this is just the beginning of such profound testimonies.
