3 Acts of Hope, Compassion & Love as the Nation Falls Into Chaos
We are facing so much national pain, chaos, consternation and shock.
And anyone paying attention to the horrendous situation before us understands exactly why so many are so deeply grieved.
It’s almost impossible to process what we saw surrounding George Floyd’s death.
And as we turn on the news in these chaotic days, the sights, sounds and reports are so tragic — so unimaginable — that we’re left with a deep and boundless sense of hopelessness.
I’ve been saying quite a bit on social media about hope, prayer and our solution: Christ. But I really want to address that hopelessness, because it’s a pattern I’m seeing among myself and many friends, family members and followers as we try to understand all that’s unfolding.
Despite these horrors and our need to confront them, I wanted to highlight some stories the media might not show you — stories that I pray will lift your spirits and empower us all to become part of the solution:
1. Scores of Volunteers Showed Up to Help
Amid the chaos in Minneapolis, tons of volunteers showed up to clean up. Fox News reporter Matt Finn explained: “An ARMY of volunteers in Minneapolis helping neighbors clean up business damage. ‘Bring a broom’ they were told. What a sight.”

2. People Are Offering Places for Prayer
The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association is one of the organizations on the ground, offering people a place to chat — and pray. In the Bible, James calls us to faith and action, and many people today are desperately in need of the former as we figure out how to tackle the latter.
The Christian organization put out a tweet about a new mobile ministry center that people can use. Powerful!

3. Killer Mike Left Us All With Something to Ponder
Then there’s Killer Mike, who left us all with something to ponder (it’s truly worth the watch):
The whole country needs to stop right now and listen to Killer Mike. He’s verbalizing what a lot of us don’t know how to express pic.twitter.com/yiBEaicRGT

I would also encourage you all to head over to Faithwire and read about George Floyd’s life and faith. There is a powerful piece there that is truly worth diving into.
And finally: Jesus called us to two very specific things: Love God and love others. This means putting truth and love at the center of our lives. This will mean listening, lovingly speaking, caring, having self-control, showing selfless care for others — and the list goes on.
Our solution can be found in John 3. I just pray we all embrace it and encourage one another in the process.
